Weekly Report #20
2/4/19-2/10/19
The past week had been successful in that I had attended the second mentor visit and finally came up with a final product idea with the help of my mentor. During the mentor visit, I was able to sit in on a treatment team meeting, another evaluation, and grand rounds. I was able to learn, in more depth, about how to prepare for evaluations before meeting with them and what questions you need to be asking them. On top of that, more had been learned about the neuroscience aspects of geriatric psychiatry, which was interesting. On top of that, Dr. Dunn told me a case about a woman who had an unusual gradual downward spiral into psychosis after being taken off of an antipsychotic medication. Therefore, the plan is to write a research paper based off of this case as well as the negative effects of being taken off medications, especially antipsychotics or any addictive medicines.
The goal for this week is to give the original work/semester presentation for this week with improvements from problems noted in the last speech. The plan to do this by going over the last reflection and presentation and finding ways to improve upon them. For example, it was common for me to use filler words or “um” and “like” instead of pauses, so the focus for the speech is to improve upon that. On a similar note, another goal is to improve how my digital presentation looks. I am doing this by switching to canva instead of powerpoint and correcting all spelling errors and color errors from last time.
