Weekly Report #15

This week was definitely successful in terms of being productive in class and getting all the necessary work done for the week. In fact, I was finally able to get a mentor (at least until March). Dr. Mitchell had agreed to the proposition and even offered me the contact information of a co-worker, hinting at a co-mentorship. Therefore, the goals for this week based on that are to contact Dr. Deepti Vats (co-worker) and set up a date to interview her and get back to Dr. Mitchell Dunn to set an official mentor visit schedule. Hopefully, mentor visits will begin this or next week. The plan to accomplish this is by setting aside a final schedule of when I would be able to come to the hospital he works at. We could then set up some sort of weekly or bi-weekly plan to meet. Since the hospital is about an hour and a half drive, we had agreed during the phone call that it would be best to meet in more stretched time intervals but for a greater amount of time to make the greatest use of it.
The other goal for the week is to finish the research aspect of the original work this week so tasks can be begun on the more technical side. The plan for this is to continue with the current schedule of working for an hour everyday. It would also be best if during a mentor visit, assistance could be asked by Dr. Dunn to see if everything is on the right track. This could further be done by figuring out what the purpose of all the mentor visits are going to be. This can be accomplished by creating a list of what I want to observe and learn about and then talking to my mentor about the possibilities of them occurring.
